PPA restrictions, other than "cash," were not mentioned in PPA book. PPA discount only for two (of six) days, even though the park was nowhere near capacity. Cable TV is extra. WiFi only in "store;" signal weak, and only one IP available at a time. Ticks were everywhere, had to close all windows and vents, and even covered ceiling vents with duct tape and plastic film to keep them out. Rabbits - and their droppings were problematic. Iron in water stained sink/tub, and left odor on body after showers. Could not drink water, even with "cleans- everything" filter. Signs in laundry room warned of possible iron stains. Sites had little gravel, resulting in mostly mud; could not put out rugs or mats. Sewer pipe nearly a foot above ground level made dumping problematic. Central dump station dirty and oder-iferous (did not use, but was four sites away). Many long-termers. Many RV's stored here. Biggest objections were ticks, water, site condition, and bait-and-switch on PPA rates. Will not stay here again.
Very nice park near Amish country. Well maintained. Level gravel sites (a little narrow though), and many all-grass sites for tents. Playground for (grand)kids, horseshoes. WiFi intermittently "on," has WEP code. Didn't use TV cable. Only drawback is I-76 about 300 yards south, and old Rt 22 immediately adjacent on the north side; much motorcycle traffic (nice roads for biking). Quiet at nite. Cabellas is 13 miles west on I-76. Will stay here again.
Outstanding! This was PPA rate for full hook-ups, and included TV and WiFi. Large sites, heavy gravel, paved streets where steep grade would allow wheel-spin if only gravel. Well maintained overall. Plenty of room for backing in - nose-to-nose, sites were about 70' apart. Didn't have chance to see rest of park, as weather went bad, and staff came around to collect everyone after tornado warning - sent us to showers and laundry room (concrete block building). Excellent staff and facilities. Couldn't ask for better. Will definitely stay here again.
Great moneymaker for volunteer fire dept (back parking lot). Sites are gravel, fairly level, good water. WiFi is new, and manager not certain how it works yet. TV and WiFi are at no extra charge. Mostly long-termers; gas-field workers, etc. Quiet, comfortable, safe. Clean restrooms/showers. Good for overnight or short-term stay. Ten minutes from I-79. Manager less than half a mile away; very responsive. Bridge on Rt 188 is out for several months, but can get there via Rt 21-Haverhill Rd-Pine St, turn right on Jefferson Rd. Will stay here again.
We have been to this campground several times - last time about two years ago. Little about the facilities have changed in last ten years, except Wi-Fi (likely 64K DSL going off-site). Don't know their cleaning schedule as men's showers looked like something at gas station; women's were clean. Campground host played music LOUDLY during daytime, as well as on Friday night; partiers came in on Friday night and host did not instruct them to tone it down. Forestry worker started his leaf-blower at 08:15 in the morning for a tank and a half worth of pointless rearrangement of oak leaves. We came to this campground, during the week to find some solitude. The American flag was improperly displayed, as well as tattered, torn, faded, weathered, and unsighted. We've become too tolerant of this level of intellect in the South. We DID enjoy watching the alligators transit the lake during the evenings, their presence annotated by their wakes reflected in the glare of security lights from the opposite shore. Campground hosts can have a great impact on experience. We will likely visit some other Blackwater park, or Open Pond (just up the road in AL) the next time.
